Once upon a time, actor Jason Carter had a recurring roll on a t.v. show
called Babylon 5. He played a "Ranger" named Marcus Cole. (Rangers
are specially trained knight-like beings whose purpose is to fight against
the gathering darkness on the side of the Light.)
Marcus Cole had a lovely, quirky sense of humour, and at one point, when
up against a pretty hopeless situation, he suggests, "I'll put a bucket
on my head and pretend to be the ancient Vorlon God, Booji."
Well, Jason's fans grabbed this, and up sprang various web sites to Booji,
including "The Followers of Booji" who designed a T-shirt and everything.
The T-shirt features Marcus Cole with a red bucket on his head.
When I knew I would get to see Mr. Carter briefly in an autograph line,
I screwed up my courage and bought and hand painted a red bucket. In
an ancient script it says, "Bow Down to Booji".
"I suppose you
want me to put it on my head," he said next,
and proceeded to do so, despite my reassurances, and to everyone's glee!
He then stood up and walked around
a bit.
Then posed for a shot with me.
(Thanks to Sharyn for the picture!)
How utterly fun!
He kept the bucket, and it is his
favourite bucket in the whole world.
(That's my story, and I'm sticking
to it.)
